Some much needed fun

I spent a very productive day in the studio and then Victor and I went out on a date last Friday night. I don't think I have had so much FUN in years. Pure fun. Dinner, drinks, and a midnight visit to Voodoo Doughnut, it doesn't get much better than that.

Enough already J Crew! I can't take it anymore!

J Crew needs to be stopped! I haven't lusted over clothing and styling like this since...since...well since the last J Crew came out!
The outfit with the slouchy pants and the high ponytail...that is what I want to look like everyday. And can I pull off bright orange lipstick this summer? I think a trip to Nordstrom is in order to try some on.

New hoodie in the shop!

HOUSE LUST 911

Sometimes I run across a house (usually on Design*Sponge) or in my old Domino magazines (R.I.P.) that instantly make me want to sell all of my belongings and recreate the look and live there forever.
This is one of those houses. You can see the whole thing on Design*Sponge today...
The woman who lives here is also the owner of Bird in NYC, one of my biggest store crushes- I would love to sell my products there...sigh, and then live in her house.
I am filled with melancholy inspiration!
I think cleaning our bathroom and making up the bed will do the trick in making me feel a little better....

Love

I found this site on one of my daily reads Bloesom Kids, and everything in the shop is so good I had to share too!
I am loving everything in the shop from Olive Manna, especially the fabric and dishware. I keep finding all of these incredible inspirations for designing my own fabric and soon I will just have to take the plunge and do it.
There is a class offered at Modern Domestic her in Portland about how to screen print yardage that I am dying to take- that might just be what I need to get started.

New Pillows at Noun in Portland!

I just dropped off some new bird pillows to NOUN: A person's place for things, and I am really happy with the way they turned out. They are going to be some of the very last pillows ever made with the perfect chocolate polka dot cotton...sigh.
They are $84.00 at Noun in Portland- go check them out in person and say hi to Stephanie the owner- I love her!

Cal Patch

I just bought this book from Cal Patch. We will see how far I get actually working from the book- but who knows right?

Wiksten

The cute and breezy clothes by Jenny Gordy over at Wiksten are making me want to learn to make clothing. I was actually thinking about the Wiksten collection when I found a really cute handmade shirt at a thrift store yesterday- good score! I also got a ton of great new vintage fabric that I am so excited to start using.
Check out the Wiksten blog, I love this picture of her vintage plate collection...and also how cute is she??

love these

I have a little shop open over at "I Heart Handmade" and I really love these napkins that I found when I was poking around by i am dorkas. I really need to be printing my own fabric!!
Too few hours in the day....I just need to be keeping a sketch book so when I finally have the time and it all comes together I am ready to hit the ground running, or should I say printing...

Penelope's in Chicago

When Victor and I lived in Chicago we were only a few blocks away from the adorable store Penelope's - I have many wonderful gifts that Victor got me from there, I miss it!
I am so happy to see that they have a really great online store now.
And I am so in love with the styling of this Spring image- I could just crawl in and live there.
My friend Jessica is coming over for tea this morning to look through our Domino Book of Decorating and get inspired about our houses.
I have been so excited about getting our home even more together. I have been working so hard in the studio that when I finally poked my head out and looked around I have seen quite a few things I would change around here...

Darling Clementine

I am loving these prints from Darling Clementine...but I might be biased because Clementine is Iris's middle name.
I can't wait to get back to printing! I know it will happen soon, I'm just not sure when.

Yes please...All of it. Right now.

Life is moving so quickly right now that these images from TOAST are making me swoon...I could really use a get away, but lets be honest- I would take those shoes and call it a day.

SO INSPIRED!

I haven't seen something that has really touched me artistically like this in a long time. I am totally breathless!

Mini quilts by Elsie Marley

A new pillow

I wish people were as into buying pillows as I was into making them. I am in this mood where I could make pillows all day and night and never stop. I would love to make hundreds of them and see them all stacked together. And my favorite chocolate pin dot cotton that this pillow is made from has been discontinued!! NO!!! I form very strong relationships with my fabrics and when we have to say goodbye it is hard until a new fabric muse comes into my life. I still think about this batch of amazing dotted Swiss that started my obsession with that fabric. I had lavender with white, dark orange with black, and cream with chocolate dots. So amazing. That fabric also started my love affair with vintage fabrics- I have had so many good ones come into my life recently from the thrift stores in Tillamook! Ever since becoming a parent I almost never thrift, but when we drive to beach along the Wilson River, Tillamook is a perfect place to stretch out. Victor is kind enough to entertain the girls while I speed dig through all the sheets, pillow cases and craft sections of each store on the strip.
I am really hoping that I can find another perfect chocolate dot- maybe I could be so lucky to find something even more inspiring...

On a personal note- I just have to post this link to a blog entry on Dooce...it perfectly sums up our life after our second baby Iris and is so funny.

Happy Mother's Day!

Just finished a photo shoot for some small pillows and now we are headed to the beach for a long mother's day weekend. I can't wait!
I will be adding new goodies to my shop all next week, but for now relaxation...

And a very happy Mother's Day to every mother- I have profound respect for you and what we do everyday and I hope that you are honored and loved the way you deserve to be...oh and that you get to sleep in.

I am so in love and inspired by the Etsy shop Roddy and Ginger. I am swooning over the entire collection.

Ink and Peat

I went into Ink and Peat here in Portland to drop off an order (they will now be carrying tea towels, small pillows and my aprons...yay!) and was so inspired by all of the colors and textures in the store...Swoon! Those bees wax candles just make me so happy and inspired, I could look at them all day.

I love this!

This has been all over the blogs, but I couldn't help posting about it too- what a pretty and simple way to make an amazing impact on a space. I think these would be so amazing in a child's room or for the holidays using different colors.
I am so inspired to find a way to get a similar look using fabric.
