Welcome home Bernice!

Meet Bernice.  I am very, very ready to get rid of my horrible (and totally predictable) post holiday cold so I can get up close and personal with my incredible new machine.  I love her already.

My baby turns FIVE today!

Angelina and I have spent the day wondering all over Portland in the rain holding hands (and nibbling on a healthy dose of treats!) taking the street car and even hitting the the photo booth at the Ace Hotel together.
This sweet girl is an artist (really- she puts me to shame) a poet and a gentle, kind  but very strong little girl. Five. Wow.
Five years ago today I was in the hospital in Chicago not quite sure what had just happened to me, but knowing it was good.

She arrives today!

My new Bernina 450  is set to arrive today at Modern Domestic and I think it is really hitting me just how many new things I will be able to make and do with her.  I need to take a quilting class at MD as soon as possible...

I also just picked up this amazing book "Scandinavian Stitches- 21 Playful Projects with Seasonal Flair" and I am SO in love with it. It is easy and fun to read, the projects are great and the author Kajsa Wikman and I have the same ideas about fabric, mixing patterns and having fun while we work- very highly recommended!

What a year!

I know that I have not been blogging a lot lately- I have been so busy wrapping up the holiday season at shows and on Etsy.
Thank you so much to everyone who supported me and my work this year! My first full year being an artist full time exceeded my expectations ten fold and I am so excited for what 2011 has to offer- and the first thing it has to offer me is a new sewing machine!
I have been sewing on my same used Riccar that is probably 15 years old (and I love every clunk and bump and sound he makes) but this year all of you all helped me to buy a BERNINA....hmmm.... I am so SO excited. It has over  a hundred decorative stitches, four alphabets and does just about everything but fold the laundry. I am thrilled beyond belief and cannot wait to explore all of the new designs and products this new machine will help me make.

Sunday Best was the best!

Thank you to everyone who came and supported me at the Sunday Best show!  I can't think of a better way to spend a weekend- so many talented artists and it was wonderful to see all the new products people had made and designed in the course of a year.

Sunday Best here I come...

Here few new pillows that will be at the Sunday Best sale...It has been so satisfying to see all of my work assembled and ready to show- I am so happy and proud of all that I have accomplished in the course of a year.  I cannot wait to share it all with you!

New pillows

My dream day would be sleeping in, getting a fantastic cup of coffee from Heart, and then making about 35 pillows on this cream wool felt and trying out every single stitch that the Bernina machines at Modern Domestic have to offer.  I am in love with the way the applique and the decorative stitches sink into the felt and look so lush...Dreamy.   I want to do a fancy stitch stripe on EVERYTHING. On wool felt, all the time, every day.
