Under pressure
from Society6.com |
Next comes Crafty Wonderland this weekend...and I am beyond busy. I am totally sold out of size medium hoodies (good problem and not to worry, more are on the way and you can still buy them on Etsy), I need to make more pillows, stockings are flying away and I am teaching a stocking class at Modern Domestic Thursday night- all while recovering from this stupid pneumonia and trying to be a good mama. Yikes.
As a topper to my schedule it was the eight year anniversary of my father's death this past Saturday. I was so busy at the show that it was easy to keep my mind off of things, but yesterday was really hard. This week is about counting my blessings, working as hard as I can while still being sane and healthy and taking a moment to enjoy success...I haven't done a lot of that. I take a lot of time to beat myself up about what I am not doing, but this week I am going to try and pat myself on the back for what I am doing and have done.
Oh, and 2012 is going to KICK ASS.
So there.
Wish me luck and see you this weekend!

New in the shop!
My Anna Joyce Textile Collection tea towels and napkin sets have arrived and are ready to give (or keep!). I am really excited about the way that these turned out- I am way into the yellow and gray.
I am also proud to say that they are hand made and hand printed from start to finish here in Portland, OR. You can pick some up for yourself right here.
Also- pneumonia update! I am recovering, and after round two of antibiotics my lungs are clear, whew.

Anna Joyce Textile Collection!
Oh, this has been so many months in the making I can hardly believe that it is true- my fabric is printed and I have textiles with my design on them! So great. Each piece has been hand printed here in Portland on beautiful linen with water based inks- so pretty.
Right now I have pillows and table runners, but by the end of next week I should have my napkins sets and tea towels ready to sell in the shop as well. All of these products are made in a very limited edition, so if you like something, snap it up now!
I also have a new friend in the studio- my new Bernina 800 serger- his name is "Sergio" and according to Angelina he has a major crush on my sewing machine Bernice- cute. He is of course from Modern Domestic- the land of all things Bernina. Love me some MD.

That is Sergio working on one of my napkins- warm gray trimmed in a beautiful hot yellow- swoon! |

Sick, oh and tired.
I have had pneumonia all weekend (and probably for about a week before that, but just went to the doctor last Friday) and spent the entire weekend in bed. I have not been flattened by an illness like this in years. But this morning I am finally ready to attack all of the work that has piled up. My first holiday show (Sunday Best at the Ace Hotel Dec 2nd and 3rd- such a good show!) is less than 4 weeks away, Crafty Wonderland is the following weekend (Dec 10th & 11th) and I teach every weekend leading up to both events. And lets not forget the children... If I think about all of it I will just go back to bed. So instead I am going to work as hard as I can (without making myself sick again). I need to just be grateful that I am able to make art and spend time in my studio and be a part of the amazing art and craft community here in Portland...Yes. That is what I am telling myself (as I feverishly try and do 3000 things at once, be a good mom, not ignore my wonderful husband, make food... the list goes on.) Send some good cyber vibes my way will you please?

Coming for the holidays
My fabric is being printed right now! These are picture of some linen table runners that are in progress. My girls Zanna is printing the pattern I designed- so excited!
I want!
I saw this necklace on Design*Sponge this morning and I want it. Badly. Such a great idea, and the designer sends you several options for the calligraphy of your name... This one looks perfect!

I make...
I am back from Canada with a huge well of inspiration inside of me and I am ready to work, work, work. I will be doing a post in the coming days about my trip with photos aplenty, but for this morning just something pretty I found on Etsy that might have to be mine...from Yellow Heart Art.

A new look!
Julie at Studio Olivine printed up my new business cards and I cannot wait to get my hands on them. I splurged on two color cards, but the design and the new logo that my amazing friend Elaine dreamed up were just begging to be hot orange and gray. I can't wait to feel them and see them in person!

From A to Z
Oh, I am so excited to announce that I am collaborating with the crazy talented, super cute and totally lovely Susanna Scott of Zanna Printed Textiles. We are calling our collaboration "From A to Z" (cute right?) and the first project we are working on is a collection of animal pillows- Zanna is doing the screen printing and I will using my applique to add "personality" to each plush friend...this is our sneak peak at the project- meet Wilson the giraffe! Each animal (we have a giraffe, hippo, alligator and ostrich) will come with a name and story, and we think they will make both children and adults smile. I will keep you posted as soon as they are up for sale. We also have other ideas in the works...can you say growth charts? I think you know where this is going.
