Anna Joyce Design Fabric!

Last week I finally did something that I have been dreaming about for YEARS- I printed my own fabric with a pattern that I designed! I took the "Intro to Silkscreen: Yardage " class at Modern Domestic with Susanna Scott ( she is so nice, so cute and a really good teacher- the class was great!) and we printed our fabric last Thursday night. It was a lot harder to get a good print than I thought it would be, but here are the results.
There are about a million mistakes in everything I printed, but I am still really happy with the results and can't wait to try and again and print more. I am hoping to have a line of home goods available in a few different colors using my pattern by the fall.
So fun!

BAGS!!!

I designed some bags with Courtney from Sown Design and they are done! I am beyond thrilled with the way they turned out- Courtney was really fun to work with and her construction is amazing.
They will be for sale at the Show of Awesome tomorrow and then on Etsy after that for $56.00.
I want to lock myself in my studio and make bags forever!

Patterns+Trays=LOVE

I am wishing I had an unlimited amount of money to spend at Huset on Scandinavian design. Sigh.

The Show of Awesome!

I will be at the Show of Awesome tomorrow from 10-3 here in Portland, and did I mention free Voodoo doughnuts and coffee?
Also I only have three slots left in my Intro to Machine Applique class, so if you are interested it is time to sign up...
Have a great weekend!!

A few pictures from our vacation at the beach. We spent a lot of time riding our bikes with the girls, driving a golf cart (!) that was dropped of at the house by our friend Al who thought we might want to entertain the kids, playing on the beach, and a trip to the aquarium in Newport. We also worked in a heavy dose of thrifting into the mix ( TOP GUN ON VIDEO!!). It was a really fun trip and now we are back and BUSY. I feel like I need a small vacation after my vacation...does that ever happen to you?

The Show of Awesome!

Please come visit me at the Doug Fir next weekend for "The Show of Awesome"- I will have some new goodies! New T-shirts and also some tote bags that I am really excited about. I think this will be a good show, and you can grab brunch and a mimosa upstairs before checking out the show...and then bring some down to me.

garage sale love

I spent the day at my friend's garage sale and walked away with some treasure...

Inspiration

I have been doing some drawing and painting for the screen print class I am taking at Modern Domestic- learning to print on entire yards of fabric! When I brought up all of the little tid bits from my studio that I was going to use for inspiration they looked so pretty together I had to take a picture.

Rainy Day Pillows

New pillows in the shop that I made today...will it ever stop raining here in Portland? I had to make a rain pillow!

A walk with the girls

When my nanny called in sick yesterday, it was pouring rain and our car was in the shop, there was nothing to do but bundle up the girls, strap them into the double stroller and get out of the house.
We ended up spending a really nice afternoon together in the rain, visiting friends and playing at the park. It was wonderful to have a day that I thought was going to be really frustrating turn out to be so pleasant.
We visited Victor at Work Sound where he was installing a show he curated (the girls got to make a huge racket playing on a child size drum set!) and then we went down the block to visit our friends at Pigeon Toe Ceramics.
I took a few pictures along the way.

Margaret Killgallen

I have been looking at a book that Victor got me for Christmas several years ago- Margaret Killgallen: In the Sweet Bye Bye. I love all of her shapes and the use of collage in her work. I am thinking about doing a small collection inspired by her work.
Iris was helping me take photos from the book...

Weekend Fun

Poor Iris spent the entire weekend with a double ear infection, so I did not get any work in the studio done at all...but I did spent a lot ( A LOT) of time holding my baby close, and we did manage to have some fun at a BBQ, and take some walks around out neighborhood with family friends.
Iris should be feeling better by tonight so I hope to be back in the studio working again!
